How the Disabled Facilities Grant works
The Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) helps pay for changes that let you live safely and independently at home, including stairlifts, walk-in baths, ramps and through-floor lifts. It is applied for through your local council, which arranges an occupational therapist assessment. Adults are means-tested; children under 18 are not. Awards reach up to £30,000 in England, £36,000 in Wales and £25,000 in Northern Ireland.
