Desk research, not testing. Look Into has not used any of these fire pits and has not measured their smoke. "Smokeless" is the makers' word. We read listings and prices on 16 October 2026 and priced the fuel using our Fire Pit Fuel Cost Index.

The short version

  • Best overall: Solo Stove Bonfire 2.0 with Stand, £249.99. The best-known double-wall wood pit, with a removable ash pan. About £5.00 an evening on kiln-dried logs.
  • Best value: Wakeyard 19.5in Smokeless Fire Pit, £92.99. The same double-wall idea at 37% of the Bonfire's price, from a less established brand.
  • Lowest smoke of all: gas. The REALGLOW 10kW tabletop (£99.99) costs about £7.83 an evening on full. Choose it if the people next door complain about any smoke.
  • No double-wall pit is truly smokeless. It smokes while lighting and when fed wet wood. Ready to Burn logs at 20% moisture or less do as much for smoke as the pit design does.
  • Running cost does not depend on brand. Every wood pit here costs about £2.00 an hour on our assumptions, so the extra money buys less smoke and a nicer build, not cheaper evenings.

How "smokeless" fire pits work, in one paragraph

A double-wall pit draws air in through holes near the base. The air heats up between the two walls and comes out through vents near the rim, just above the fire. That hot air burns off some of the smoke before it leaves the pit. It works once the fire is hot and the wood is dry. It does little while you are lighting it, or if the logs are damp.

The picks

1. Solo Stove Bonfire 2.0 with Stand: best overall

Best for: a typical UK garden with neighbours on both sides.

Price: £249.99 on Amazon UK, 16 October 2026 (4.8 stars from 2,099 ratings). One other listing was £289.99 that day.

The pit most people mean when they say "smokeless fire pit". It is 304 stainless steel, with a double wall and a removable base plate and ash pan in the 2.0 version. It is light for its size at 9.87kg and comes with a stand to protect your patio.

The catch: £249.99 buys no fuel saving at all, and a £49.99 open bowl costs the same £5.00 an evening on our numbers. Solo Stove publishes no burn rate. The ash pan helps, but you still have to empty and store it.

Key specs: 304 stainless steel, 19.5in (49.5cm), 9.87kg, removable ash pan, stand.

2. Solo Stove Ranger 2.0 with Stand: best for small gardens

Best for: courtyards, small patios and two to four people.

Price: £183.89 on Amazon UK, 16 October 2026 (4.7 stars from 575 ratings).

The same design scaled down to 43.2cm. A small fire puts out less smoke to start with, which matters as much as the double wall when the neighbours' windows are close.

The catch: short logs only, and frequent feeding. You pay £183.89 for a pit you will outgrow if you host more than four people.

Key specs: stainless steel, 43.2 × 43.2 × 38.1cm, 7.48kg, stand.

3. Wakeyard 19.5in Smokeless Fire Pit: best value

Best for: trying a double-wall pit without paying Solo Stove prices.

Price: £92.99 on Amazon UK, 16 October 2026 (4.6 stars from 109 ratings).

A 19.5in stainless steel double-wall pit with an ash pan, fire poker and carry bag included. It is the same size as the Bonfire 2.0 for £157 less.

The catch: 109 ratings and a brand with little track record in the UK. The listing does not say what grade of stainless steel it uses, which affects how it handles heat and rain over the years. No stand is listed, so budget for a heat-proof paver if it is going on decking or paving you care about.

Key specs: stainless steel, 49 × 49 × 38cm, 8.3kg, ash pan, poker and bag included.

4. Solo Stove Yukon 2.0 with Stand: best for big groups

Best for: large gardens and groups of eight or more.

Price: £449.99 on Amazon UK, 16 October 2026 (4.6 stars from 583 ratings).

Check price on Amazon →

The large version at 73.7cm across, the same width as the cast iron bowl in our main guide.

The catch: a 73.7cm fire burns more wood than our 2kg an hour base, so £5.00 an evening is a floor, not an estimate. At our 3kg an hour high case it is £7.50. A big fire also makes more smoke, which defeats the point in a small garden. At 18.3kg it is heavy to move.

Key specs: stainless steel, 73.7cm across, 47cm high, 18.3kg, stand.

5. Solo Stove Mesa XL with Stand: best tabletop

Best for: a balcony table or a small patio, for the look of a fire rather than the warmth.

Price: £79.99 on Amazon UK, 16 October 2026 (4.6 stars from 1,888 ratings).

Check price on Amazon →

A small double-wall tabletop pit with a grate that takes pellets or small pieces of wood. It weighs 1.04kg.

The catch: at 17.8cm across it gives almost no useful heat. We have not priced its fuel because we did not check pellet prices for this page. Check your lease before using any solid-fuel burner on a balcony.

Key specs: stainless steel and ceramic, 17.8 × 21.8cm, 1.04kg, pellets or wood.

6. REALGLOW Rectangular Tabletop Gas Fire Pit: lowest smoke

Best for: close neighbours, terraced gardens and anyone who has had a smoke complaint.

Price: £99.99 on Amazon UK, 16 October 2026 (4.6 stars from 25 ratings).

Propane gives no visible smoke, no embers and no ash. The listing describes a 10kW burner with a glass wind guard and lava rocks. On full it costs £3.13 an hour, or £7.83 for 2.5 hours.

The catch: £2.83 more per evening than wood, and only 25 ratings. It is a strip of flame for looks rather than a heater.

Key specs: 10kW, 72 × 22 × 11cm, 304 stainless steel burner, glass wind guard.

7. Outsunny Rattan Gas Fire Pit Table: lowest smoke, bigger

Best for: a smoke-free fire in the middle of a seating area, with a table when it is off.

Price: £121.49 on Amazon UK, 16 October 2026 (4.8 stars from 29 ratings).

A 14.5kW burner in a 71cm table, with a lid, a thermocouple safety shut-off, electronic ignition and a rain cover.

The catch: on full it costs £11.35 an evening. Our £7.83 assumes you run it at about two thirds. Only 29 ratings.

Key specs: 14.5kW, 71 × 71 × 62cm, thermocouple, lid and rain cover.

What to avoid

  • "Smokeless" pits sold for indoor, tent or campervan use. Low smoke is not the same as no carbon monoxide. We saw at least one wood and pellet tabletop pit on Amazon UK on 16 October 2026 advertised this way, and we have not linked it.
  • Paying for a big smokeless pit for a small garden. A smaller fire makes less smoke. The Ranger suits most small gardens better than the Yukon.
  • Damp wood in an expensive pit. Wood over 20% moisture smokes in any design. In England, look for Ready to Burn on the bag.

FAQ

Do smokeless fire pits really produce no smoke?
No. Double-wall pits cut smoke once the fire is hot and the wood is dry, but they still smoke while lighting and with damp wood. Gas is the only option here that is close to smoke-free.

Are smokeless fire pits worth the money?
Only if smoke is a real problem for you or your neighbours. They cost the same to fuel as a £49.99 open bowl, about £5.00 for a 2.5 hour evening on our numbers.

What is the best smokeless fire pit for a small garden?
The Solo Stove Ranger 2.0 at £183.89 (16 October 2026) for wood, or the REALGLOW 10kW tabletop at £99.99 for gas.

What wood should I burn in a smokeless fire pit?
Kiln-dried hardwood certified Ready to Burn, which means 20% moisture or less. Cut logs to fit; smaller pits need shorter pieces.

Can I use a smokeless fire pit in a Smoke Control Area?
Probably. The gov.uk rules are written around building chimneys and allow garden bonfires. Fire pits are not named, so check with your council.

Is gas or a smokeless wood pit better for neighbours?
Gas. It gives no visible smoke at any stage, at a running cost of about £7.83 an evening against £5.00 for wood.

Method

Picks drawn from Amazon UK results for "smokeless fire pit", "solo stove" and "gas fire pit", read on 16 October 2026. We kept double-wall wood pits and gas pits with a stated size and more than 20 ratings. Fuel costs come from Look Into's October 2026 Fire Pit Fuel Cost Index, using the same 2kg an hour for every wood pit because no maker publishes a burn rate.

Next check: January 2027.

The practical recommendation

For most UK households with close neighbours: buy the smallest double-wall pit that seats your group (the Ranger 2.0 for up to four, the Bonfire 2.0 for up to six), and burn only Ready to Burn kiln-dried hardwood at about £5.00 an evening. If even a little smoke would cause trouble next door, go to gas and accept about £2.83 more each evening.
