The short version
- The Ignite Grande makes the longest claim, 40 miles, which our discount turns into 28 to 32. It was £4,499.00 on 15 October 2026.
- The Veleco ZT63 gives the most range for the money: 37 miles claimed, 25.9 to 29.6 realistic, for £1,260.99.
- For the three that state their battery size, a mile costs about 1p of electricity at the October 2026 cap.
- 13 Amazon UK listings state an 8mph top speed, and none mentions the DVLA registration that GOV.UK says a Class 3 scooter needs.
- One 3-wheeler's specification table states 15mph, which would put it outside the mobility scooter classes altogether.

Range is the number scooter sellers like best, and the one buyers can check least. So this page does two things the range-sorted shop pages do not. It takes 20 to 30 percent off every claim to give a realistic band for UK use. Then, where a listing states its battery size, it works out what each realistic mile costs in electricity at the October 2026 price cap.

How we picked these
We worked from the listings only. We have not ridden these scooters or measured their range. We searched Amazon UK on 15 October 2026 and kept the road-going (8mph) scooters claiming 30 miles or more. Prices are the buy-box price that day. The realistic band is our stated working assumption for hills, kerbs, cold and battery age. Electricity costs use the battery capacity stated on the listing and the current Ofgem cap unit rate, and leave out charger losses, which we have not measured.
Ranked by claimed range
| Scooter | Price, 15 Oct 2026 | Claimed range | Realistic range (−20 to 30%) | Battery as stated | Cost of a full charge | Cost per mile (low end of band) | Max user |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ignite Grande | £4,499.00 | 40 miles | 28 to 32 miles | 110Ah, voltage not stated | 210kg | ||
| Veleco ZT63 | £1,260.99 | 37 miles (60km) | 25.9 to 29.6 miles | 48V 20Ah lead-acid (0.96kWh) | 25.3p | about 1.0p | 199kg |
| Veleco Faster | £2,130.99 | 35 miles in one place, 50km (31 miles) in another | 21.7 to 28 miles | Not stated | Not stated | ||
| Ecomobi MS02 MAX | £1,749.99 | 32 miles | 22.4 to 25.6 miles | 24V 40Ah (0.96kWh) | 25.3p | about 1.1p | Not stated |
| Veleco Turris | £1,250.99 | 31 miles (50km) | 21.7 to 24.8 miles | 48V 20Ah (0.96kWh) | 25.3p | about 1.2p | 160kg |
| Drive Envoy 8+ | £2,300.00 | 30 miles | 21 to 24 miles | Not stated | Not stated |
The pattern is plain. Three very different scooters, from £1,250.99 to £1,749.99, carry batteries of the same size, 0.96kWh, and claim between 31 and 37 miles. Charging any of them costs about 25p. The batteries are the same size, so the extra money pays for the brand and the build.
The six worth looking at
Ignite Grande
The biggest claim here at 40 miles, a 110Ah battery, an 8mph road speed with a 4mph pavement setting, and a 210kg user limit, the highest we found. Even at our harshest discount it should cover 28 miles.
The catch: £4,499.00 is more than three Veleco ZT63s, and the listing gives amp-hours without a voltage, so its battery size and charging cost cannot be worked out.
Veleco ZT63
A claimed 37 miles (60km) from a 48V 20Ah lead-acid battery, 8mph, a 199kg user limit and a stated weight of 94kg. That works out at about 25p for a full charge and roughly 1p per realistic mile.
The catch: lead-acid batteries are heavy and age faster than lithium. Budget for a replacement set within the first few years.
Veleco Faster
A four-wheeled 8mph road scooter, which some riders find steadier than a three-wheeler, claiming 35 miles.
The catch: the listing gives 35 miles in one place and 50km, which is 31 miles, in another. It does not state its battery size, so we cannot price a charge.
Ecomobi MS02 MAX
A 24V 40Ah battery (0.96kWh) and a claimed 32 miles at 8mph. Its listing is one of only two of the 13 8mph listings we read that mentions indicators.
The catch: at £1,749.99 it costs £489 more than the Veleco ZT63 for the same battery capacity and a shorter claim. The listing does not state a user weight limit.
Veleco Turris
The lowest price on this list at £1,250.99, with the same 48V 20Ah battery as the ZT63 and a claimed 31 miles (50km). The listing states 103kg and a 160kg user limit.
The catch: the claim is 6 miles shorter than its sibling the ZT63, which costs £10 more. Unless you prefer the Turris styling, the ZT63 is the better buy on these numbers.
Drive Envoy 8+
Drive is a long-standing UK mobility brand, and the Envoy 8+ claims 30 miles at 8mph.
The catch: £2,300.00 and the listing does not state the battery size, so the cost per mile cannot be worked out. Stock showed "Only 1 left" when we checked.
What 13 road-scooter listings leave out
Every scooter on this page is an 8mph road scooter, which GOV.UK calls Class 3. A Class 3 scooter must be registered with the DVLA, and needs lights, indicators, a horn and a rear-view mirror. We read every Amazon UK scooter listing in our 15 October 2026 searches that states an 8mph top speed: 13 of them.
- 0 of 13 mention DVLA registration. A dealer usually registers a new Class 3 scooter. A marketplace seller may not, which leaves it to you, using form V55/MV according to GOV.UK.
- 2 of 13 mention indicators.
- 2 of 13 use the words "Class 3".
- One more listing, outside the 13, states 15mph in its specification table. GOV.UK says a vehicle that can go faster than 8mph is not in a class at all: road only, registered, and the driver needs a driving licence.
The scooters may be perfectly sound. The listings simply leave you to find out what the law asks of you, so read our Class 2 and Class 3 guide before you buy a road scooter online.
What range costs to run
Electricity is the smallest cost of owning a scooter. A 0.96kWh battery charged from flat once a week uses about 50kWh a year, roughly £13 at the 26.32p cap rate. The replacement battery is the cost that bites: see what a scooter costs to own over five years. For the wider picture of what household appliances cost to run, the UK Running Cost Index covers the rest of the house.
Questions people ask
Which mobility scooter has the longest range?
Of the road scooters we priced on Amazon UK on 15 October 2026, the Ignite Grande claims the most: 40 miles. Taking 20 to 30 percent off for real use gives roughly 28 to 32 miles. The Veleco ZT63 claims 37 miles for about a quarter of the price.
What mobility scooter has a 30 mile range?
All six here claim 30 miles or more. After our 20 to 30 percent discount, only the Ignite Grande (40 miles claimed) and the Veleco ZT63 (37 miles claimed) still reach 25 miles or more at the bottom of the band.
How much does it cost to charge a mobility scooter?
Very little. A 48V 20Ah battery holds 0.96kWh, which at the October to December 2026 Ofgem cap unit rate of 26.32p per kWh is about 25p for a full charge, before charger losses. That works out at roughly 1p a mile at the bottom of our realistic band.
Do I need to register an 8mph mobility scooter?
Yes. GOV.UK says a Class 3 scooter, which can do up to 8mph, must be registered with the DVLA. In our check of 13 Amazon UK listings that state 8mph, none mentioned registration.
Why is real range lower than the advertised range?
Advertised range is measured in good conditions. Hills, kerbs, stop-start pavements, cold weather, a heavier rider and an ageing battery all cut it. We take 20 to 30 percent off. That is a working assumption; we did not measure it.
