Boiler Upgrade Scheme (England & Wales)

  • £7,500 off an air source (ASHP) or ground source (GSHP) heat pump.
  • £9,000 for eligible off-gas-grid properties (21 July 2026 – 31 March 2027).
  • £2,500 for air-to-air heat pumps (from 28 April 2026).
  • No EPC required since April 2026; landlords are eligible as well as homeowners.
  • Scheme extended to 2030.

You currently need a fossil-fuel system (e.g. a gas or oil boiler) or electric heating without a heat pump. The grant is paid through your MCS-certified installer, who applies on your behalf.

Scotland & Wales

Scotland: Home Energy Scotland offers a grant of up to £9,000 plus a £7,500 interest-free loan. Wales: support is available through Warm Homes Nest for eligible households.
