An exercise bike is the rare machine in this house with no running cost worth printing: most are self-powered, and the magnetic ones sip nothing. The ongoing cost of home cardio lives somewhere else now, in the app, and that is exactly where the listings go quiet. We read the top twenty Amazon UK exercise bike listings on 17 October 2026, titles and feature bullets: twelve of the twenty sell an "APP" connection, and exactly one mentions a subscription, and that one is a 30-day trial, on the £599 NordicTrack. What month two costs is answered nowhere in the aisle.

The hardware numbers have the familiar shape. Resistance claims run from 4 levels to "100"; the longest warranty in the twenty (a claimed 20 years) sits on a £129.99 bike, while the £599 one states none; and several listings print only the flywheel's kilograms while leaving the rider's weight limit unstated. Buying home cardio in January is a predictable national ritual; this page is the October version of the homework.

The short answer

  • Best no-subscription bike: YYFITT 2-in-1 (£169.99), with 16 stated levels, a 120kg stated limit and no app to pay for later.
  • The connected reference: NordicTrack T Series 9 (£599), the only listing honest enough to mention a subscription at all. The catch is what it doesn't price: month two.
  • App-brand middle: MERACH (£239.99, 136kg stated). Its training app is free-tier first.
  • Biggest stated flywheel: Toputure 15kg (£187.14). Flywheel mass is the spec that actually smooths a pedal stroke.
  • Budget with a real weight rating: Jupgod (£95.99, 160kg stated).

Prices are the Amazon buy box on 17 October 2026 and will move. No lab, no test rides: every figure comes from the maker, the listing or a named source, read on the date shown.

How this page was made

Prices in this table come from Amazon and are refreshed at least once a day, with the date of the last update under the table. The cost-per-use and running-cost figures on this page use prices Look Into read on 17 October 2026, so they can differ from today's price.

The subscription nobody prices: what twenty listings state

Titles and feature bullets, top twenty Amazon UK exercise bike results, 17 October 2026:

  • 12 of 20 sell an app connection. 1 of 20 mentions a subscription: the NordicTrack's included "30-Day iFIT Train Membership", which is a trial, not a price. On connected kit, the subscription is the running cost, and this aisle prices it the way printer listings price ink: elsewhere, later. Our subscription tax index found the same pattern on doorbells and alarms: the hardware is the entry fee, the monthly is the business.
  • 6 of 20 state any warranty, and the inversions are spectacular: a £129.99 bike claims 20 years (alongside "100" resistance levels and a 180kg limit), while the £599 market leader's bullets state none. By now readers of our mixer and jump starter audits will recognise the rule: the bigger the number, the cheaper the machine.
  • Resistance claims run 4 to 100 "levels" with no stated standard behind any of them; three more claim "0-100%" app-set resistance, a different scale again. Levels are not comparable across listings and nothing on the page lets you try.
  • Only 7 of 20 state a maximum user weight (120kg to 180kg where stated). Several print the flywheel's kilograms instead, an easy number to mistake for a rating that protects you.
  • Electricity is the one honest zero: self-powered and magnetic bikes cost effectively nothing to pedal. The ongoing cost of this category is the app, the mat and the resolve.

How we chose

Desk research, not a ride test. We ranked on stated weight rating, stated flywheel mass, warranty in writing, and, for connected bikes, whether the listing is straight about the subscription. "Levels" counts were treated as decoration. A bike that needs no app can never bill you in February, and that is worth a place on its own.

The six picks

1. YYFITT 2-in-1: best no-subscription bike

Live price on Amazon (checked 17 Oct 2026) · 16 stated levels · 120kg stated limit · no app

A folding upright-and-recumbent machine whose listing states the two numbers that matter and sells no connection at all. That means no screen to age, no firmware to lapse and no monthly to forget to cancel.

The catch: no warranty stated, and entertainment is whatever you prop in front of it.

2. NordicTrack T Series 9: the connected reference

Live price on Amazon (checked 17 Oct 2026) · 16 stated levels · 30-day iFIT membership included

The one listing in the twenty that engages with the subscription question at all, from the biggest name in connected home cardio.

The catch: it engages by including a trial. What iFIT costs from day 31 is not in the listing, and over three years that number decides what this bike costs more than the £599 does. Price the membership on iFIT's own site before you buy the hardware that assumes it.

3. MERACH smart trainer: the app-brand middle

Live price on Amazon (checked 17 Oct 2026) · 136kg stated · app-connected

The established budget-connected brand, with a stated weight rating and a companion app whose basic tier works without paying.

The catch: like everything connected here, the listing does not state what the app's paid tier costs or which features sit behind it. Check before the bike's screen becomes a menu of locked rides.

4. Toputure 15kg flywheel: the biggest stated flywheel

Live price on Amazon (checked 17 Oct 2026) · 15kg flywheel stated · app-connected

Flywheel mass is the one printed spec that genuinely changes how a budget bike feels under load, and this is the largest stated in the twenty.

The catch: no stated user weight limit in the bullets we read. The 15kg on this listing is the wheel, not the rating.

5. Jupgod: budget with a real weight rating

Live price on Amazon (checked 17 Oct 2026) · 160kg stated · app-connected

Under £100 with one of the highest stated user ratings in the twenty, the number most of its price neighbours leave out.

The catch: no stated warranty and a frame at this price is a light-use machine; the rating tells you it will hold you, not that it will hold up.

6. The £129.99 everything-machine: the claims case study

Live price on Amazon (checked 17 Oct 2026) · "100" resistance levels claimed · 180kg claimed · "20-year" claim · app

One listing carries the boldest number in every column of our audit at the second-lowest price among the picks. We include it for the same reason we included the 6,000A jump starter: the printed numbers are the product.

The catch: all of them, together. If the 20-year promise reassures you, ask who honours year nineteen.

Who should skip an exercise bike

  • If the plan is January's plan, buy in January. Better still, note that this market reruns the same machines at the same prices every year, and the thing that decides whether the bike gets used is never on the spec sheet.
  • If the app rides are the appeal, price the subscription first and the bike second: over three years the monthly can out-cost the machine, which is the arithmetic our subscription tax index exists to expose.
  • If you already own a bicycle, a basic indoor trainer stand turns it into this entire category for less than most of the page.

Same aisle, different machine: our treadmill audit found the search results are walking pads now: 17 of 20 print a horsepower figure and exactly one states a warranty.
