UK demand index
Week of 28 August 2026 to 3 September 2026, measured on 4 September 2026. Source: Google Trends, United Kingdom. Next edition 11 September 2026. How this is measured
We track UK search interest in the products we write guides about, and rank them by how far that interest moved over the last seven days against the seven days before. Every figure links to the Google Trends query that produces it, so you can check it yourself.
In the seven days to 3 September 2026, the fastest rising UK product searches we track were heated airer at +161.7%, dehumidifier at +61.3% and smart thermostat at +57.9%. The steepest fall was tower fan at -18.6%. Figures are Google Trends UK search interest against the previous seven days.
Ranked by seven day change in UK search interest. Each term is measured on its own, so a figure in this table describes that term against its own previous week, not against the other terms.
Put tower fan, dehumidifier and heated airer into one Google Trends query for Great Britain and you get all three on the same scale for the twelve months to 3 September 2026. On that scale the last week fans led dehumidifiers was the week of 9 August 2026, at 18 against 13. Dehumidifiers led the next week at 7 against 14, and the gap has widened every week since: 4 against 15 in the week of 23 August, then 3 against 21 in the week of 30 August. Heated airer went 1, 2, 4, 6 across the same four weeks.
We call that switch the damp turn: the week UK search demand stops being about moving air and starts being about removing water. In 2026 it landed in the week of 16 August.
The catch is that these are small numbers on a shared scale, so any single week could flip on noise. What makes it a turn rather than a wobble is that the gap has widened three weeks running, and that the seven day movers above are pointing the same way.
