Key findings

  • LED face mask rose 58.0% week on week, the largest move of the twenty terms we track, and every day of the week sat above its mean for the week before.
  • Window vacuum was second at 29.5%, a week after it fell 34.8%. Portable monitor was third at 8.6%, and no other term rose by more than 8.5%.
  • Electric blanket fell 36.7%, the steepest fall in the set, mostly because last week's one day spike on Monday 26 October now sits in the comparison week. Eleven of the twenty terms fell.
  • The damp turn still holds. On a shared scale dehumidifier led tower fan 34 to 1 in the week of 25 October 2026, its eleventh full week ahead, although the gap was slightly narrower than the 37 to 2 of the week before.

Every Friday we measure how far UK search interest moved for the products we write guides about, and publish the movers with the method attached. This is the edition for the seven days from 30 October to 5 November 2026, measured on 6 November 2026 against the seven days from 23 to 29 October.

Editions are not rewritten. Next week gets its own page and this one stays as published, so the run of weeks can be read back later. The live version, which always shows the current week, is on our trending page.

The previous edition is the week to 29 October 2026.

The two middle columns are mean daily Google Trends search interest for that term, on that term's own 0 to 100 scale. Each term is requested separately, so a 90 on one row and a 60 on another do not mean the first term is searched more. Only the change column compares like with like.

What moved

LED face mask tops the table on a rise of 58.0%, and unlike last week's leader the rise is spread across the week. Its lowest day, 52 on Friday 30 October, still beat the previous week's mean of 45.6. The fourteen day high of 100 came on Wednesday 4 November. The data does not say why.

Window vacuum rose 29.5%, a week after falling 34.8%. It peaked at 100 on Monday 2 November, after 94 on the Sunday, and had eased to 51 by Thursday 5 November. Portable monitor rose 8.6% and moisture absorber 8.5%.

Sunday 1 November was a busy day across the set. Air fryer, Korean skincare and mini fridge all had their fourteen day high that day, portable monitor tied its high on the Sunday and the Monday, and dehumidifier scored 98. That looks like a shared lift on one day rather than separate stories, but the data cannot show the cause.

Electric blanket fell 36.7%, and most of that is last week's spike dropping out. Monday 26 October scored 100 and now sits in the comparison week. Leave that day out and the previous week's mean would be 30.5, which makes this week's 25.6 a fall of about 16%. Within the week it climbed from 18 on Friday 30 October to 30 on the Tuesday and Wednesday.

Several other falls share a cause. Five terms had their fourteen day high on Saturday 24 October and three on Sunday 25 October, and that weekend is now in the comparison week. Seven of those eight fell this week, led by vacuum storage bags at 14.4%, carbon monoxide alarm at 11.9% and smart thermostat at 11.4%. Hot water bottle went the other way, rising 4.2% and reaching its fourteen day high on Wednesday 4 November.

The damp turn, 2026

Put tower fan, dehumidifier and heated airer into a single Google Trends query for Great Britain and all three sit on one shared scale. Re-run on 6 November 2026 over the previous twelve months, that query still shows fans leading dehumidifiers through the summer, then losing the lead and not getting it back.

The last week fans led was the week of 9 August 2026, at 18 against 13. The next week it was 7 against 14. By the week of 13 September it was 3 against 25, and in the week of 18 October it was 2 against 37, the widest gap since the turn. In the week of 25 October it was 1 against 34. Heated airer went from 1 to 9 on the same scale over the same period.

We call that switch the damp turn: the week UK search demand stops being about moving air and starts being about removing water. In 2026 it landed in the week of 16 August.

The catch is that these are small numbers on a shared scale, so any single week could flip on sampling noise. The gap has not widened in a straight line either: it narrowed to 2 against 18 in the week of 20 September, and it narrowed slightly again in the week of 25 October. What makes this look like a lasting turn is that dehumidifier has stayed ahead for eleven full weeks running, from the week of 16 August to the week of 25 October. Google Trends rescales every request, so a few of these figures sit a point away from the ones in the last edition. The week of 1 November is still incomplete and is left out.

What this does not measure

This is search interest, not sales. It says how many people looked, not how many bought, and it cannot tell a buyer from someone reading about a product. It is also not a count of searches: Google Trends reports a relative index, so a term can rise on the index during a week when total UK search volume fell.

We track the terms we have guides for, so the set is a sample of the market and not the market. Cost indexes and claims audits that do not map to a single product term are left out, because forcing them into a term would not be honest.

Method

  • Source: Google Trends, Great Britain, daily series, one request per term.
  • Each request covers 23 October to 5 November 2026, so both weeks come out of one normalisation and the two means are comparable.
  • Change is the mean of 30 October to 5 November against the mean of 23 to 29 October, to one decimal place.
  • Google Trends resamples, so re-running a query can return a figure a point or two out from ours. Each row links to the exact query so anyone can re-run it.
  • The damp turn figures come from one separate request for tower fan, dehumidifier and heated airer together, Great Britain, weekly series over the twelve months to 6 November 2026.
  • Measured on 6 November 2026. Nothing on this page comes from a retailer and no figure here is a sales figure.
